New ActionThis Release Coming Soon

Posted on 26 June 2009 by Tim Howell

ActionThis is receiving a minor update in the next couple of weeks, designed to improve notification amongst our users.

The key change relates to email notifications, which will now work more consistently through both the Outlook client and the ActionThis web application. Here’s how:

  • If the owner of an action item adds a comment or updates the item, then whomever the action item is assigned is notified via email;
  • If the assignee adds a comment or updates the action item, the owner of the action item receives an email; and
  • If someone else adds a comment or updates the item, then both the owner of the action item, and the person to whom the item’s been assigned will receive email messages.

This release ensures all updates are treated in a consistent way, making it easy for our users to keep track of activity.

The update will occur at 11pm on Saturday 4 July (PST). Users of ActionThis will need to update their Outlook client from the Downloads section (https://my.actionthis.com/private/Downloads.aspx) following this release.

Microsoft publishes ActionThis case study

Posted on 22 May 2009 by Tim Howell

As much as we like to highlight ActionThis as a leading example of a Software Plus Services solution, it’s always gratifying to get confirmation from other sources.

Software Plus Services (S+S) remains a significant strategy for Microsoft, particularly as the upcoming new releases of Microsoft Office and Windows look to embrace this model even further.

ActionThis has once again been recognized by Microsoft as a leader in this area, with a case study that has been published on Microsoft.com this week.

You can read the case study here, which encapsulates how and why we have embraced S+S. (Note: Microsoft Silverlight is needed to access the case study content.)

We remain thankful to Microsoft for their support – here in New Zealand and in the US – and this case study is just the most recent example of how they support ISVs like ours.

Updated ActionThis Client for Microsoft Outlook

Posted on 16 March 2009 by Tim Howell

We have just released an update to the Microsoft Outlook client for ActionThis.

The release fixes a number of Office client-related issues, including ActionThis email messages that are shown with attachments named ‘winmail.dat’ when using Exchange 2007, and the inability to Accept, Bounce back or Reassign ActionThis action items using Microsoft Outlook.

To install this update, uninstall ActionThis Extensions for Office 2003/2007, and then download and install the latest Outlook client from https://my.actionthis.com/private/Downloads.aspx.

If you’re using the Outlook client, we recommend you download this latest release. If you have any questions, or need assistance, please contact support@actionthis.com.
